Visa Process (For Indian Citizens)
You can obtain a Visa on Arrival directly, or apply for an E-Visa through the official portal:
                https://eservices.moi.gov.jo/MOI_EVISA
/faces/Pages/Runnables/login.jsf
If you have already purchased the Jordan Pass (a single pass that allows entry to 40+ tourist attractions), the visa fee of JD 40 (approx. ₹5,000) is waived.
The E-Visa portal may direct you to collect a Visa on Arrival instead. Having the Jordan Pass simplifies the arrival process by reducing queues and providing quicker access at immigration.
A single-entry tourist visa costs JD 40 (approx. ₹5,000) when obtained on arrival. Ensure that you carry all required documents, such as return travel tickets, confirmed hotel bookings, and proof of sufficient funds.
The Jordan Pass must be purchased in advance, as it is not available at the airport. Without it, you will need to pay the visa fee.
Jordan Pass
The Jordan Pass is a convenient package that provides entry to over 40 attractions, including Petra.
There are three categories of passes, priced between 70 and 90 JD, depending on the number of entries you want for Petra.
Since Petra’s single-entry ticket alone costs JD 50 (approx. ₹6,150), the Jordan Pass offers excellent value.
The pass also includes a waiver of the JD 40 (approx. ₹4,900) visa fee if you purchase it before arrival and stay a minimum of 2 consecutive nights (3 days) in Jordan.
Overall, the Jordan Pass is the most cost-effective and hassle-free way to explore Jordan.
Visa on Arrival Experience in Jordan (For Indian Travellers)
Jordan offers Visa on Arrival, and there is a separate queue for travellers holding the Jordan Pass. However, if you are an Indian citizen without a valid USA visa, be prepared for an additional step at immigration.
Once immigration officers identify your nationality, you may be directed to the immigration office for further clearance. This is a normal procedure and not something to be alarmed about.
During my visit, the officers asked me a few straightforward questions — about my job, return ticket, length of stay, etc. I found the process professional and reasonable. In fact, the questions were aimed at verifying authenticity, especially since there have been instances of Indian travellers attempting to cross into Israel illegally through Jordan. Such cases have unfortunately made the screening process stricter for genuine Indian tourists.
If you answer honestly and provide clarity, the process is smooth. Once verification is completed, the visa is issued without issue.
